Main Idea of "The Voice"

These are the overall idea of "the voice" which include my personal point of view.
The first stanza shows how the writer misses the woman, suggesting the woman is gone maybe forever. " How you call to me, call to me" shows the writer is remembering her voice when she called him. " you are not as you were" suggest that the woman is gone.

The second stanza shows the memory of him being with the woman. He is flashing back in his past " let me view you, then" shows that writer starts to remember and it shows how much the writer misses the woman. The part " Even to the original air-blue gown! " means that writer loved the woman's everything and can remember clearly

This part is where the writer's mind expands. He misses the woman so much that he wants the woman back to him. "Travelling across the west mead to me here" suggests that the writer wants her to come across the past.

• The fourth stanza shows the writer realizes the real state of him again and fall in great sadness. THe words describing around him are very somber and sad which clearly shows the difference between his mind in past and the real. At the last part " and the woman calling" suggests that he realized the truth but he didn't forget her.

The rhythm of paragraph gradually break up, reflecting writer's realization of real. The whole poem shows writer's guilty to his wife, and lonliness that he lost her.
